The Akshaya Patra Foundation is a non-profit organisation that implements a large scale innovative school feeding programme for underprivileged children in order to fight hunger, provide much-needed nutrients, and incentivise school attendance. As a volunteer we will be relying on you to help support the work of the charity here in the UK so that we can achieve our goal of feeding 5 million Indian children by 2020.
What does a Volunteer do?
A volunteer will help us to achieve two of our main goals here in the UK: raising awareness and fundraising.
The most valuable aspect of the work you do with The Akshaya Patra Foundation is your ability to raise the profile of the charity. We are determined to keep our costs down, enabling more and more children to benefit from the donations we receive, and therefore you are the link between the children in India and the sponsors in the UK. Talking to community leaders, friends and family, local media, companies and individuals is paramount to help The Akshaya Patra Foundation achieve its goal of feeding 5 million school children by the year 2020. You can make the difference through simple community events, speaking to your friends at work, organising an dinner or anything else you do in your normal life but with a added charitable twist.
